Договор об организации ТЮРКСОЙ, крупнейшей гуманитарной организации объединяющей тюркоязычные страны, был подписан в Алматы в июле 1993 года, тогда его членами стали: Азербайджан, Казахстан, Кыргызстан, Турменистан, Турция и Узбекистан. Позже к нему присоединились представители Турецкой Республики Северный Кипр, Татарстан, Башкирия, Тувы, Хакасии (РФ) и Гаузии (Республика Молдова). Официальным рабочим языком организации стал турецкий, штаб-квартира ТЮРКСОЙ находится в Турции, в г. Анкаре.
Уже почти два года председателем этой организации является Казахстан, за это время ею реализовано множество крупных культурных программ, в том числе, впервые был создан совет директоров театром тюркского мира, был проведен архитектурный конкур. Одним из ярких проектов стала постановка оперы «Кер-Оглы», премьера которой прошла в сентябре прошлого года сначала в Бишкек, потом в Алматы, в Анкаре и в Баку. В ней приняли участие 250 артистов из 6-ти стран тюркского мира. Осенью оперу планируется еще раз поставить в Стамбуле, в том же составе. Об этом рассказали на пресс-конференции представитель Министерства культуры и информации РК в международной организации ТЮРКСОЙ Турганбаев Аскар и председатель правления Союза журналистов Казахстана Сейтказы Матаев.
В этом году, впервые за историю, в рамках сотрудничества с ЮНЕСКО, ТЮРКСОЙ будет проведено празднование «Наурыз» в Париже, которое пройдет 29 марта. Также организация проведет традиционный проект «Лаборатория художников», в котором в этом году примут участие художники из 15 стран тюркского мира. Десятки других традиционных проектов, связанных с фестивалями театров, опер, кино и много другого, также пройдут в течение этого года в различных городах стран-участников ТЮРКСОЙ.
После пресс-конференции дипломами и ценными подарками были награждены газеты: «Айкын», «Алаш айнасы», «Егемен Казахстан», «Заман-Казахстан», телевизионное агентство «Хабар», а также ряд журналистов и культурных деятелей, за создание материалов о деятельности ТЮРКСОЙ, среди них председатель правления Союза журналистов Казахстана Сейтказы Матаев.
